Practice material that says where it came from
GyanPrep is a free practice bank of general knowledge and general studies questions for Indian government examinations — in English and Hindi, sourced from official past papers, with the exam and year recorded on every question.
Why we built it
The material exists. Finding a trustworthy version of it does not.
The problem with most question banks
Most free GK sets circulate as forwarded PDFs and screenshots with no source, no year and no way to tell a genuine past-paper question from something somebody typed out wrongly. A candidate ends up memorising an answer that was never correct.
What we do instead
Every question here records the examination and the year it was asked in, and carries the answer plus an explanation wherever the source paper gave one. If a question looks wrong you can say so on the question itself, and an editor sees it.
How a question reaches you
Four steps, one of which is a person reading it.

Official papers
We start from published question papers and answer keys, not from forwarded compilations.

Extraction
Each paper is read page by page — including scanned ones, through OCR in English and Devanagari — and split into individual questions with their options.

Editorial check
Extracted questions land as drafts. An editor confirms the question, the options and the marked answer before anything is published.

Published, and correctable
Once live, every question carries a report button. Reports go to a review queue, and a corrected question replaces the old one everywhere.
English and हिन्दी, counted once
Half of the candidates for these examinations sit them in Hindi.
Where a question exists in both languages it is stored once with a language toggle rather than twice as two unrelated questions. That matters for more than tidiness: your progress, your accuracy and your revision schedule follow the question, so switching to Hindi mid-preparation does not reset what the site knows about you or make you answer the same thing twice.
What we do not claim
Stated plainly, because the alternative is finding out the hard way.
- We are not affiliated with any recruitment board, commission or government department. Always check the official notification for anything that affects your application.
- Extraction is automatic and editors are human, so errors do get through. Report them — that is what the button is for.
- A question bank is practice, not a syllabus. It tells you what has been asked, not what will be.
- Free sets are open to everyone with no account. An account adds saved progress, revision scheduling and the wider publisher-sourced bank.
